Jose Luis Resuela

Hello, I am Joselu. I grew up in a small village called Quismondo (Toledo). Since I was a child I‘ve had a passion for animals and plants. However, with time, I developed what I consider a peculiar sensitivity to appreciate plant life. Walking through gardens, spending life contemplating a flower, or feeling myself overwhelmed by the most ancient trees in the world is the greatest thing I can imagine in life. That’s why I decided to course a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology at the Agricultural School of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). My training has allowed me to tackle problems from a quantitative and scientific approach developing viable solutions for the challenges we face as species. In 2020, I moved to Albacete to study a master’s degree in Experimental Biomedicine. There, I spent two years studying the role of NOTCH receptors in the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal cells. In 2022 I joined Dr. Araceli Díaz’s Food Allergens group. Currently, we are collaborating with other research groups to improve Nicotiana benthamiana as a platform to produce proteins of interest such as insulin, antibodies, or vaccines. Regarding my hobbies, I enjoy science popularization (WARNING! Advertising: You can find me on YouTube as Quercusapiens). In addition, I love landscaping and forestry. Lastly, I try to contribute to social movements as much as I can with knowledge and work to improve society.
