Araceli Díaz Perales

Degree in Biological Sciences (1996), PhD in the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). At the end, she spent three years as posdoctoral researcher at the University of Oviedo. Later, she was incorporated with the Ramón and Cajal program of excelence as posdoctoral researcher in UPM. Finally, in 2009 she was recognized as Research Teaching Staff (PDI), signing a contract as Asistant Professor of the Technical School Superior Agronomica, Alimentaria y Biosistemas (UPM). At present, she works in the UPM with her research work at the Center for Biotechnology and Genomics of Plants (UPM-INIA). Her scientific career has been developed in the area of Health and Plant Biotechnology, applying basic knowledge to the development of diagnostic methods and treatment of allergies.

From the moment of her reincorporation to the UPM (2006), she has led projects of public financing of both the national program of the Research Subdirectorate (3) and the RETICs network program of Instituto Carlos III as part of the RETICs network ( RD07 / 006; RD12 / 0013) and the current ARYAL (RD16 / 003). Recently, a EU project has been awarded with 10 research groups from 7 different countries, in which she is the coordinator (Allerscreening; H2020-NMBP-X-KET-2017). In the period 2013-2017, the group has published 40 original articles in journals in the first quartile of the Allergy area, 6 invited reviews and 8 conferences in international meetings with more than 3500 citations (without self-citations) and an index h 31. During that time, she has been maintaining an intense collaboration with the most relevant Spanish clinical groups in food allergy, included in the Allergy Services of the national health system (as reflected in her participation in RETICS), as well as with the Department of I + D from the ALK-Abelló company, reflected in numerous joint publications and ALK-Abelló / UPM contracts. Since the year 2016, an intense collaboration with the company BIOD has been initiated, from which the idea has developed that will be developed in the environment of the EU Allerscreening project.

Her research work is combined with her dedication of teaching on the Degree of Biotechnology of the UPM coordinating the subjects of Metabolism and its regulation (second level) and Immunology (third level), and Molecular Pathology (third year). She is also the Coordination of the Health orientation in the same degree. On the other hand, she has directed 12 final grade papers since 2012, and directed four completed PhD, two awarded with the Doctoral Award UPM (2012, 2014).
